Consisting of groundbreaking producer NK-OK and formidable multi-instrumentalist Mr. DM, Blue Lab Beats is one of the fastest-rising production duos in the world. The pair seamlessly fuse Jazz, Hip-hop, Afrobeats, Soul and Electronica whilst representing a talented generation of musicians coming out of the United Kingdom.
The young friends started out as bedroom producers, remixing tracks from A-listers such as Dua Lipa and Rag'n'Bone Man. Fully immersed in their art, they grew into something far more potent—crafting a supple, wide-ranging sound inspired by pioneers of Jazz and Hip-hop, and the music of the African diaspora while staying true to their London roots.
With over 85 million streams to date, Blue Lab Beats won the Jazz FM Innovation Award in 2022 and have earned several MOBO nominations. In 2023, they won a GRAMMY for their production on Angelique Kidjo's track 'Fired Up' from her Mother Nature LP, which won Best Global Music Album.
Although as producers they are a duo, their live performances are fully immersive experiences, featuring drums, bass, trumpet, sax and a guest vocalist—alongside NK-OK on drum machine and Mr. DM on keys and guitar. Recent highlights include curating three Jazz sessions at The Elgar Room, headlining JazzReFest at the Royal Festival Hall for Jazz ReFreshed, performing in Brixton with DJ AG, jamming with Robert Glasper and Wyclef, headlining London's Jazz Cafe, and playing Milan's Jazz Festival, alongside numerous studio sessions.
